This age group’s class time is 30 minutes. From a timing standpoint, it is extremely structured.
That said, we’re not delusional. The demands and expectations for this age group are very appropriate for them.
The class structure will look something like the following:
2 minutes of safety / propriety reminders (“only use your martial arts on the bad guys” types of reminders)
5 minutes of strength training
7 minutes of striking training (punching, kicking, blocking, etc)
14 minutes of 3 different precise martial arts drills / games
2 minutes for a quick review

Students are entitled to, and are in great need of, genuine individual attention and feedback.
All of our instructors are trained to speak to students individually, by-name, many many times per class, with feedback that is clear and specific to each child.
Our average 4-1 student teacher ratio for this age group, enables just that. -
This age group does NOT participate in any sparring or grappling (Jiu Jitsu, wrestling, etc.) of any kind.
Pathing is essential for this age group. We treat it with the utmost precision (ensuring students know where to go and where not to go).
Matted floors and softened surfaces, corners, and edges, wherever necessary.
4-1 student to teacher ratio average.
Supervision tactics such as owl vision (always adjusting where you’re looking) and the 5-second rule (looking at every child approximately every 5 seconds).
Clean background checks for all instructors.
-
Most instructors at other facilities or in other industries speak in language that is far too complex for this age group. Especially for bilingual children. We keep our language extremely simple and clear for our preschooler ninjas.
-
For this age group, perhaps the biggest concern is that the child won’t behave properly.
For the vast, vast majority of students, this simply won’t be an issue.
A big mistake parents make that delays their trying out our program is they equate how their child behaves at home with how they’ll behave at our academy.
These two things are often somewhat night and day.Our program is set up in a way that impels children to truly want to listen. And quickly at that.
Most parents are astonished at how well their children listen here.
-
All of our students learn the gold standard for self-defense: Mixed Martial Arts.
This is vastly better than Karate, Taekwondo, Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, or anything else.
That said, at this age, the class is far more about discipline, dealing with other children, problem solving, & coordination, than it is about the martial arts. So the kids in this age group will learn only a small handful of super basic techniques. We find this works very well for this age group.
-
Parents can absolutely watch their student attend their trial class, and any other class.
And for this age group specifically, it’s actually required. For all other age groups, it’s optional.

Our instructors are experts at engaging this age group. Though not perfect.
You will not find a more engaging experience for your child.
We are constantly regaining student attention in this class.
However, what’s even more important than regaining student attention is to command it in the first place.
To keep student attention, we first rely upon the content itself being interesting.
We are fanatic about keeping students paying attention throughout class. But it’s rarely ever a problem in the first place because the classes are so much fun!

For this age group, approximately 1 in 5 will have 1st day participation fear or hesitation. 4 out of 5 will get on the mat with no problem.
And even of that remaining 1 in 5 students with some hesitation or fear, about 80% of them get on the mat as well! It just takes them some time!
For some preschoolers, it takes 5 minutes. For others, it takes 5 classes (mom or dad bringing them to watch until they take the leap).
We also do have a lot of tactics that we use to motivate children to get on the mat (such as having one of their peers hold their hand and take them out there as a friend).
There is no pressure, regardless.
