Clear First Day Expectations
-
Before Class: we’ll have you sign a waiver, give you a uniform for you or your child, and give the student some one on one time before the class starts.
During Class: Just sit back and enjoy the class. There are breaks scheduled during the class to speak to your child or to rest if it’s you participating.
After Class: Talk with your child. See if it’s a good fit. If it is, great! You’re more than welcome to enroll. But you will never be pressured to.
-
Comfortable athletic attire and water if you prefer it over the water fountain.
-
Just for the first class, a legal adult guardian must be present. After that, we only require that parents stay for the 3-4 year old children. But you always can stay and watch if you want, of course.
-
Our class structure is set up to allow for new students without holding back old ones.
Via: private training before the actual class starts, multiple groups usually available, & a strong tactics for current student conduct.
Lastly, we also have a small student to teacher ratio in most of our age groups and classes. Approximately 7 to 1 on average (less for the younger students, more for the older).
-
The participation rate on the first day of our classes, is as follows per age group:
Ages 3-4: 80%
Ages 5-7: 95%
Ages 8-12: 95%
Ages 13+: 95%
Ages 18+: 99%
Every child is different. Some are very shy and nervous. We’re used to it. We will work with your child.
However, please keep in mind that if we do not apply a lot of pressure that’s because we oftentimes find that the harder we push, the harder they pull (especially for younger children).
Some students take multiple sessions to get on the mat. No worries at all!
-
We are no stranger to challenging student behavior.
Your child is welcome to try out a class.
In extremely rare situations, the worst case scenario is that we evaluate your child before the class starts, and recommend you try again 3-6 months later.
You can learn more about this on our Self-Discipline page.

High-energy students are oftentimes our best students.
We know that children, especially younger boys, have a hard time sitting still. We know that they will sometimes randomly spin in a circle.
We employ tactics that minimize this and keep them focused. You can trust that we know how to deal with this type of student.
Every child is different, of course. But we rarely have problems for this archetype.
